How does Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) work?
I’ve been reading a little about Neuro Linguistic Programming and would like to learn a little more. I understand it is the basis upon which Derren Brown performs much of his work, for example where he stood in a shopping centre with a megaphone and ‘made’ about 300 people put their hands up simultaenously just by emphasizing ceratin words in his sentences.
On another occassion, he made a group of girls (Psychology students themselves, if I remember correctly) roll up their coat sleeves on a freezing cold, snowy day just by saying standing on a stall and shouting something to the effect of:
“Roll Up! Roll Up!… There’s nothing up my sleeve… Do it now!”
Surely it can’t be as simple as these examples would appear, but I’d really appreciate any information you could provide me with.
